A New Era at Desert Mountain
Greg Milbrandt Named Principal at Scottsdale’s Desert Mountain High School
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (August 4, 2005) - When Desert Mountain High School students return to school on August 22nd, they will be greeted by a new principal with a familiar face.
Greg Milbrandt has been named the school’s leader after serving the last two years as an Assistant Principal at the campus.
“This is the opportunity of a lifetime,” says Milbrandt. “I am privileged to be a part of the Desert Mountain family and I look forward to the exciting years ahead.”
Milbrandt has enjoyed an impressive 18 year career in Valley education. Prior to his tenure at Desert Mountain, Milbrandt served as Dean of Students and Academic coach for J.O. Combs Elementary/Middle School in Queen Creek. Milbrandt also worked as Schools Program Director at the Sunshine Acres Children’s Home in Mesa and as a teacher and coach at the Arizona Boys’ Ranch in Queen Creek.
“We didn’t have to look very far to find the perfect fit for the job,” says Dr. Althe Allen, the district’s executive director for secondary schools. “Greg understands Desert Mountain, its students and staff. His inside knowledge and experience will be very valuable to the future of the school and our district.”
Greg Milbrandt is a graduate of the University of Wyoming and received his Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University in 2001. He is filling the position held previously by Brian Corte, who has accepted a position outside the district.
