Our children’s safety and well-being has been and continues to be our highest responsibility. That duty is squarely before us in the devastating situation we currently face with David Renaud’s conduct. We are taking all appropriate steps to share information fully, openly and expediently with all jurisdictions charged with the investigation, including the police and the Arizona Department of Education. We have also done our best to share the information we have with the media as it becomes available, and appreciate your patience in a very difficult situation. As you know, we are currently conducting our own investigation into the behavior and arrest of teacher David Renaud. We also accept the responsibility to conduct a thorough investigation into our own internal practices and procedures to determine what occurred and how we can improve for the future. We intend to do whatever is necessary to understand what happened here and we will take every action appropriate based on the outcome of that investigation. Principal Chris Meisinger has served our district for 10 years and deserves a fair, thorough evaluation of the circumstances involved. We intend to do that. As we proceed forward, we want our community to be assured that this district is committed to finding the facts, doing what is right and taking whatever steps are necessary.
