Students lend a hand at Arts and Crafts Fair

This year, approximately 100 Service Learning students will be helping out at the Arts and Crafts Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Civic Center Senior Center, 7375 E. 2nd St., Scottsdale.

Students from Arcadia, Chaparral, Coronado, Desert Mountain and Saguaro high schools will help set up and breakdown 60 holiday craft booths at the fair and assist seniors throughout the day.

"Our teachers and students treasure the opportunity each year to work with our community seniors. The friendships that are created last for years as ours students keep coming back to our senior events, including Senior Olympics and Adopt-a-Senior," said John Baird, director of Service Learning and Community Schools.

In addition to helping out at the fair, students have the opportunity to network and collaborate with seniors at one of many intergenerational activities offered throughout the year.
