Scottsdale schools, JFCS informs
community about ADHD
Does your child have difficulty paying attention
in class, hyperactivity or impulsivity? Has your child been recently
diagnosed with Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)?
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, ADHD affects approximately
4 percent to 12 percent of school-aged children in the United States.
In addition, about three times more boys than girls are diagnosed
with ADHD.
Scottsdale Unified School District invites parents,
teachers, administrators and community members to attend Help,
My Child Has ADHD at 6:30 Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Desert
Mountain High School’s auditorium, 12575 E. Via Linda,
Scottsdale.
This highly informative session will focus on
information and skills to help manage school-aged children’s
behaviors related to ADHD. Techniques will be taught for use at
home and in the classroom.
The program will be presented by the Jewish Family
and Children's Service (JFCS). JFCS is a non-profit, non-sectarian
organization that strengthens the community by providing high quality
behavioral health and social services to children, families and
adults of all ages throughout Maricopa County.
In addition, teachers who attend the presentation
can receive Career Ladder hours or staff development points, as
well as recertification credits.
