Sequoya assistant principal will step into principal post July 1

Marilee McCracken, currently an assistant principal at Sequoya, will step into the principal position on July 1. The Governing Board approved the appointment on March 30.

Mrs. McCracken, who also has served as an assistant principal at the Arcadia Neighborhood Learning Center since January, joined the Scottsdale district at the beginning of this school year after working as a teacher in the Alhambra School District for nine years. She has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Education from Northern Arizona University and completed the education leadership program at Arizona State University.

The Site Council at Sequoya participated in the process of selecting a new principal for the school. The Site Council, which includes parents and teachers, recommended that Mrs. McCracken be selected for the position.

Sequoya Elementary, located in the Chaparral Complex, houses kindergarten through fifth grade and has more than 600 students.
