Board approves Executive Director of Communications and Marketing

The Governing Board approved the appointment of Maureen O’Leary as the executive director of communications and marketing at the May 10 Board meeting.

“We are excited about Maureen being part of our leadership team. Her extensive background in communications at Motorola will have a positive effect on our community and will enhance our communications with parents, non-parents and the business community. One of her many strengths is her strategic planning ability and we are looking forward to the expertise she brings from the private sector to assist us in telling our story,” said Dr. John M. Baracy, superintendent.

Ms. O’Leary brings with her extensive communications, advertising, branding, and marketing experience to Scottsdale Unified School District. Most recently she was the director of communications for Motorola Computer Group where she had responsibility for the overall planning, implementation and management of their external and internal communications programs and branding strategy.

Prior to that position, Ms. O’Leary was the senior director of marketing communications at KnowledgeNet.com, Inc., an e-learning company. In addition, she has held senior communications management positions at Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector (now Freescale) and Microsemi Corporation, both high-tech companies here in the Valley.
Ms. O’Leary graduated from the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English graduating magna cum laude, with honors. A Valley resident for twenty years, she resides with her family in Scottsdale.
