Scottsdale Unified School District Arizona’s Most Excelling School District!

Tom Clark, executive director of Information Systems & Technology, provided the Governing Board with an update on the implementation of technology in regard to the Capital Outlay Override (COO). The COO, approved by Scottsdale Unified School District voters in the special election held November 6, 2007, includes funding for classroom and network related technologies. The funding from the 7 year COO became available to the District on July 1, 2008.

An overview of up-to-date purchases and project implementation benchmarks of computers, software, network upgrades and audio-visual equipment will be provided. Information from the December 9 th COO Oversight Committee meeting was also shared.

In other action, the Governing Board:

• Set dates for the Superintendent Search, Process and calendar dates.
• Denied the override of District Policy for Open Enrollment for Cheyenne Traditional School for the 2009-10 school year only. This change will give Aztec students on the Cheyenne waiting list priority after current Cheyenne siblings have been called first and guaranteed entrance for the 2009-10 school year. This override is for one year only.
• Approved the Classified Pay for Performance Plan 2008-09.
• Accepted gifts valued at $31,076. The gifts were received from Cheyenne PTO, Copper Ridge PTO, Arcadia Spirit Line, Exxon Mobile Education Alliance Programs, Scottsdale Charros, Target and Wells Fargo.

The next regular Governing Board meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on January 13 at the Education Center .
