BOARD BRIEFS |
Kevin Price, director of Audit Services, presented to the Governing Board a quarterly update which included work completed in the previous quarter and work scheduled for the next quarter. To view the presentation, please visit http://www.susd.org/district/govboard/meetings.cfm.
Interim Co-Superintendents Katy Cavanagh and Dr. David Peterson presented an update on FY2008-2009 Budget reductions. In addition, they provided an update on the impact of the FY2009-2010 State Budget cuts on the SUSD FY2009-2010 Budget. Topics included:
- Reduction in Force (RIF) process
- Current information on the Federal Stimulus package
- Update on Renewal of the K-3 Override
- Current use of the M&O Override funds

In other action, the Governing Board:
- Discussed proposals they would like to submit to Arizona School Boards Association (ASBA) for consideration at the ASBA June 27, 2009 Delegate Assembly.
- Selected Bonnie Sneed as a Delegate and Dieter Schaefer as an Alternate to the ASBA June 27, 2009 Delegate Assembly at the Buttes Marriott Resort in Tempe, Ariz.
- Approved the lease/purchase of copiers District wide from Ikon Office Solutions through the Mohave contract with financing provided from Baystone Financial Group through the Mohave contract for an annual payment amount not to exceed $408,000.
- Accepted gifts valued at $55,794.54. The gifts were received from Arcadia PTO, Cochise APT, Copper Ridge PTO, DCES PTO, Ingleside PTO, Mountainside PTO, Sequoya APT, Tavan PTO, Zuni Community Association, Chaparral Science Booster Club, Chaparral Yearbook, Dr. Manuel Cook, Shana Cohen Chaparral Class of 1998, Douglas Unified School District, McCarthy Building Companies, Scottsdale Charros, Scholarship America, SUSD Foundation, Wells Fargo and Wells Fargo Foundation.
The next two regular Governing Board meeting are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on April 7 and May 5 at the Education Center.
