BOARD BRIEFS |
David Peterson, chief of business and facilities, and Katy Cavanagh, executive director of middle schools and excelling teaching & learning, presented information regarding the Capital Override Budget to the Governing Board. Additionally, Superintendent Dr. John M. Baracy updated the Board on the District Goals that were adopted on September 20, 2005. The presentation is available on the District Web site at: http://www.susd.org/district/govboard/meetings.cfm.
Dan Shearer, director of transportation of learners and safety, presented the Governing Board with a transportation update.
Cathy Rivera, executive director for elementary schools and excelling teaching & learning, presented the Governing Board with information regarding the Calendar Committee. The presentation is available on the District Web site at: http://www.susd.org/district/govboard/meetings.cfm.
In other action, the Board:
- Approved the adoption of resolution for the sale of bonds. The Municipal Market Data Scale is posted on the District Web site at: http://www.susd.org/district/govboard/meetings.cfm.
- Approved the guaranteed maximum price for Chaparral High School in the amount of $50,000,000 to McCarthy Construction Company. The presentation is available on the District Web site at: http://www.susd.org/district/govboard/meetings.cfm.
- Awarded an RFP for financial management software to Windsor Management Group for an amount not to exceed $2 million. The presentation is available on the District Web site at: http://www.susd.org/district/govboard/meetings.cfm.
- Approved the upcoming Board meetings and location schedules. Regular Board meetings will be scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Education Center, Work/Study meetings will be individually scheduled at the Warehouse and Student Appeals will be scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Warehouse.
- Accepted gifts valued at $146,043. The gifts were received from Cochise APT, Desert Mountain PTO, Mohave PTO, Mountainside PTO, Desert Mountain Band Boosters, Kevin Heyninick, Lowe’s Charitable, Mary’s Knights, Pfizer Foundation, Scottsdale Police Department, John Sperling, Stratus Technologies, United States Golf Association and U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The next Governing Board meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m., September 26, at the Education Center.
