BOARD BRIEFS |
The Governing Board approved attendance boundaries
for the 2003-2004 school year, which include grandfathering for all current
high school students, middle school students, and fifth graders. Tuesday's
4-1 vote caps more than three years of discussion and public input on
addressing growth and overcrowding in the northern tier of the District.

In other action, the Board:
- Adopted changes to the Policy Manual that address the rights of homeless
students, as prescribed by federal law. Admission, transportation, and
equal educational opportunities were issues addressed in the policy

- Accepted gifts valued at $55,300. Gifts were received from Arcadia
Pride, Sequoya APT, Arcadia Football Booster Club, Saguaro Yearbook
Staff, Arcadia Little League Girl's Softball Auxiliary, Saguaro Letterman's
Club, and Josh Burns. (Finance, 480-484-6128)
- Approved a settlement agreement and release in the matter of SUSD
adv. Document Technologies, in which each party agreed to pay its own
attorneys' fees and costs. (Office of the Superintendent, 480-484-6120)
A summer construction update was tabled until the next
meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Education Center.
