OF THE GOVERNING BOARD
SCOTTSDALE SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 48
|
March 4, 2003 A Special
Meeting of the Governing Board of the Scottsdale Unified School District,
#48, Maricopa County, was called to order at 7:00 PM, at the Scottsdale
School District Education Center Board Room, 3811 North 44th
Street, Phoenix, Arizona. Board Members
in attendance were David R. Goldstaub, President; Shari Avianantos, Clerk;
Karen Beckvar; Christine M. Schild; and Sandra Zapien-Ferrero. Superintendent Barbara F. Erwin, and
Attorney Jack LaSota were also present.
A quorum was present. Mrs. Schild
moved to convene in Executive Session for: A. Discussion/consideration
of the employment, dismissal, discipline, or resignation of Chris Meisinger,
a District employee, pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(1). B. Discussion/consultation
for legal advice with Board Attorneys, pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(3). Mrs. Avianantos
seconded the motion. The motion was
approved with a vote of 5 – 0. Mr. LaSota,
attorney for the Governing Board, asked President Goldstaub if the employee,
Mr. Meisinger, was given 24-hour notice that he could have this meeting occur
in the open. President Goldstaub
stated that Dr. Erwin indicated that Mr. Meisinger was given that
notice. At 7:47 PM, the
Special Meeting was reconvened. President
Goldstaub stated, “Mr. Meisinger has tendered his resignation, effective
today, March 4, 2003. He has also
executed a Separation Agreement and Release; therefore, the action before the
Board this evening is either acceptance or rejection of the Resignation and
the Separation Agreement and Release.”
President Goldstaub asked if he had a motion at this time. Mrs. Schild
moved to approve both the Resignation of Mr. Chris Meisinger and the
Separation Agreement and Release entered into on March 4, 2003, by and
between Mr. Chris Meisinger and the Scottsdale Unified School District. Mrs. Zapien-Ferrero seconded the motion. Mr. Goldstaub
called for any discussion. Mrs.
Schild thanked the members of the Cherokee community for coming to the
meeting in support of Mr. Meisinger.
She also stated that by tendering his Resignation and Separation
Agreement, Mr. Meisinger left the Board with little choice but to accept or
reject that Resignation and Separation Agreement. As there were
no other comments or discussion, Mr. Goldstaub called for the vote. The motion to
accept Mr. Meisinger’s Resignation and Separation Agreement and Release was
approved with a vote of 5 – 0. At 7:50 PM,
Mrs. Schild moved to adjourn the Special Meeting. Ms. Beckvar seconded the motion. The motion was
approved with a vote of 5 – 0. Dated this 4th
day of March 2003. The Governing Board of the Scottsdale
