The middle school program is designed to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of the emerging adolescent. This middle school philosophy is demonstrated through the learning opportunities at each school. A Student Planning Guide, which describes the wide variety of opportunities available to students, is available upon request.

Humanities/reading for 6th, 7th & 8th graders

Middle School Enrichment Courses

The Scottsdale School District offers a middle school program designed to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of the emerging adolescent. This middle school philosophy is demonstrated in unique and diverse ways through the learning opportunities at each school. Enrichment courses are offered at each grade level to provide a greater breadth of learning. These courses are designed to complement, enhance, and integrate learning opportunities with the required curricula.

Students may choose enrichment courses based on availability, staffing at their site, and space. Many of the enrichment courses are offered for multiple grade levels, while others are unique to a particular grade level. Students who choose year-long enrichment courses will have fewer opportunities than those students who participate in semester-long enrichments. PLEASE NOTE: The availability of enrichment course offerings at each site will be unique and is dependent on staffing and space availability.

Transitioning to Middle School is a big step for elementary students - and sometimes an even bigger step for their parents! It can be scary, but it doesn't have to be.

Take a moment to watch and listen as each of our Middle School Principals give you an introduction to their school. Each features different systems and programs to help incoming 6th graders feel at home quickly so that they can begin to excel in their exciting new environment.
