In compliance with the State of Arizona and Structural Pest Control Commission (SPCC)
we have implemented an IPM program. This program operates in conjunction with the
United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Arizona Department of
Environmental Quality (ADEQ), University of Arizona Entomologist, and National and
Local IPM Coalitions.
Our IPM approach allows our technicians to combine several appropriate pest control
tactics into a single strategy. Some of the techniques we use include staff education,
monitoring, sealing entry points, physically removing pests, modifying storage and
increasing sanitation practices. By investigation of our grounds and school buildings, we
focus on making the environments unfavorable places for pest to live and breed.
Through maintenance and cleaning, we reduce or eliminate food and water sources and
hiding places for pests.
When necessary, chemicals may be used to control a pest
problem, but will not be routinely applied. If a chemical treatment does become
necessary, pest management will apply a product in the safest manner possible.
Preference will be given to treatments that allow the use of Eco-friendly products using
natural plant oils, boric acid, diatomaceous earth and baits.
Through this multifaceted approach, we will maintain a safer environment for our
children.
