Please make sure that classroom projectors are
turned off when not in use. The “A/V
mute” button is an added feature that
allows teachers to take a short pause during
instruction for discussion or questions. The
A/V mute is not an option to be used
for an extended period of time because
the projector is still on and the lamp is still
firing. Projectors have a fairly quick warm-up
period (less than 3 minutes), so they should
be turned off during lunch, recess and specialty
classes and when the room is not in use, etc.
Replacement lamps are expensive supply items.
However, lamps will last 3,000-4,000 hours when
the projector use is managed properly; that
is approximately 3 to 4 years!
Leaving
the projector on with A/V mute will significantly
reduce the life and brightness of your classroom
projector lamp.
