District seeks volunteers to evaluate RFPs

The District is continually seeking volunteers from the local community to serve on the committees that evaluate requests for proposals. These committees determine the most advantageous offers to the District for the goods and services that it purchases. By serving as a volunteer on one of these committees, you will ensure that the interests of community are taken into consideration of the awards.

The committees generally meet for an hour or two on two different days, depending upon how many offers there are and how complicated the purchase is. Sometimes there is “homework” in that the members will read and score offers in the own time at work or home.

To volunteer just fill out the form (D-95 RFP Committee Volunteer Form119k) and send it in. You will be notified of your selection and added to a list of potential committee members. Then at some time in the future you will be contacted regarding an upcoming committee. If the timing works for you, you will be asked to serve on a committee.

As part of evaluation committee, you will be briefed on potential conflicts of interests to determine your suitability for specific committees. For example, you should not serve on any committee in which there is a vendor for whom you have a close relative working. These will be discussed with you after your selection to a committee.
