It is important that students develop a four-year High School plan which recognizes their needs, interests, abilities, and objectives. A high school counselor is available to assist students and parents in planning or evaluating a program. Planning assures the student of meeting all requirements for graduation, as well as completing courses needed to fulfill specific career objectives, technical training, or job entry. Students planning their four years in high school should consider the following:
- Graduation requirements.
- Entrance requirements for colleges and other post-secondary schools of interest to the student.
- Electives that will potentially contribute to the student's future career.
- Requirement: all students must pass AIMS Reading, Writing, and Mathematics in order to graduate
- Courses offered in the High School Planning Guide are subject to minimum course enrollment. Therefore, courses which do not have sufficient enrollment may not be offered throughout the four year plan in a traditional setting. Please check with your counselor for additional options, e.g., correspondence courses, SUSD/Pinnacle Online, summer school or evening school.
- Please note that additional courses may be added to the online version of the planning guide. An addendum to the printed planning guide will be provided to students with these additional courses.
