The Book Club is hosting a holiday drive from December 1st – December 12th. Gently used children’s books will be given to All Star Kids Tutoring. They will benefit children who do not have access to books at home. Drop off the books you wish to donate in the box located in your English class.
Hey Desert Mountain! Make sure to go to NYPD at Raintree and the 101 on Wednesday, Dec. 3rd. Bring your flyer and go between noon and 9pm. Support Desert Mountain events – get pizza!
Any bands trying out for Rock Revelation: there will be a meeting this Thursday, 12/4, in room 1149 at 2:50. Please bring lyrics of your songs.
Did you know that all students must pass a Computer Proficiency exam before graduating from high school or take a Computer Basics course? The next proficiency test will be offered after school on Tuesday, December 9th. Please sign up in the Counseling Office as space is limited. Not sure if you’ve met the requirement? See your counselor.
The DMHS Math Lab has added Wednesday morning to its’ schedule for December. You can now get help with your math on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 7:15; and Tuesday afternoons at 3pm. Go to room 5121 to take advantage of this math assistance.
Bring your holiday shopping list and money this Friday. It is DMHS’s semi annual one and only, truly amazing, and always interesting….Market Day...Economics students will be selling their creations at the three lunch hours. Bring your cash and help bring our economy back…one purchase at a time. This Friday…one day only!
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
Attention Juniors – Executive Women International is sponsoring a scholarship of $5,000 for a qualified Junior (male or female). DMHS can nominate one student based upon academic excellence, extracurricular involvement, community service and leadership. See Mrs. Sterner for an application to be considered for nomination. Applications are due Monday, 12/15.
Did you know that accountants provide services to some of the most exciting industries such as pharmaceuticals, retail and automotive? If you are a high school junior who would like to learn more about the great growth opportunities that exist for financial accountants see Mrs. Sterner about the Ernst & Young and University Arizona ACAP program held this summer at UA. You’ll learn about mentorships, scholarships and internships. The program is free.
SPORTS
Girls Basketball has their home opener against the state runner-up, Chandler High School tonight. Freshmen start at 4:00, JV at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:00pm.
Boys soccer has their first game tonight. It is an away game against Alhambra. All JV & Varsity players need to leave for the bus at 2:15. If you’re not on this bus, you won’t make the game.
CLUB
Attention all SHS members: The induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, Dec 4th at 3pm in the cafeteria. Dress is semi-formal and attendance is mandatory. Please do not be late.
All SNHS members – if you signed up to donate a giftcard for the SUSD Holiday Drive, please bring it to the meeting on Dec. 11th. The minimum amount is $15 and the maximum amount is $35.
CLUB MEETINGS
Drama Club: The last meeting before winter bread will be this Thursday, 12/4 after school in the black box. Join us for food, fun and improv games! The theme is Crazy Santas, so dress up! Best costume gets a prize.
Habitat for Humanity: will be meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 2 in room 3209.
NHS: Meeting Thursday, December 4th at 7:45, 5th lunch and after school in Mr. Tanzosh’s room, #1134.
