Cocopah Honors Students of Character
On Friday, November 21st, more than 50 Cocopah students were honored in an afternoon assembly for demonstrating outstanding character during the first half of this school year. The event was organized by Cocopah's counselors of high character, Mrs. Chemodurow and Mrs. Solod. Students were selected by their teachers and received a certificate of recognition and other fantastic prizes. We were pleased to see a strong parent turnout to honor what we value at Cocopah and in our community.
Cocopah's Principal Profile for 2009-2010
In the spring of 2009, with the cooperation with our Cocopah School Community, Scottsdale Unified School District will interview and select a new principal for the 2009-2010 school year. We are asking for the input of parents and staff members to complete a candidate profile. This profile will provide guidance to a selection committee made up of parents, staff and district leadership. Please CLICK HERE to complete the brief survey.
This search begins only after exhaustive efforts to recruit Mr. Rasmussen to stay with us for another year. In the end, the lure of retirement was more persuasive.

6th Grade Students Explore Kartchner Caverns
A group of Cocopah 6th grade students enjoyed a field trip to Kartchner Caverns on Monday, November 10th. Kartchner Caverns is an amazing underground living limestone wet cave filled with stalactites dripping down like icicles and giant stalagmites reaching up from the ground.
Special thanks to Mrs. Hecksel and the parent/teacher chaperones for making this enriching experience possible for our students.

Special Performance for Cocopah 7th Grade Students
On Wednesday, September 24, 2008 several 7th grade classes experienced a dramatic reading from a premier singer, actress and performer in the Phoenix area. Renée Morgan Brooks performed as Harriet Tubman, sharing her inspirational story and struggles establishing the underground railroad. Renée performs this role in the context of a dance drama with the Desert Dance Theatre. We were a very impressed and grateful audience at Cocopah.
