AZTEC IS AN EXCELLING SCHOOL ONCE AGAIN!

"Excelling School" for 2007-2008
Congratulations Rattlers!!  Aztec was once again named an "Excelling School" for the 2007-2008 school year. It is the highest designation given to an elementary school
Aztec Has Spirit!
 
This month’s Most Spirited Tallies have been completed with Ms. Alber’s and Ms. Monahan’s classes both having 64%!  Congratulations to those two classes and to all of our students who are participating by showing their spirit for Aztec!

Aztec Annual Spelling Bee
Once again Aztec will be participating in our District Spelling Bee which will be held on January 27, 2009.  As part of the program, Aztec’s Spelling Bee will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008.  We will be holding two Spelling Bees, one in the morning for our primary grades K – 3, and our final Spelling Bee in the afternoon for grades 4 -5 and including the winner from the morning Spelling Bee.

Help Aztec And Reduce Your State Tax Bill At The Same Time!
Arizona law allows taxpayers to receive a tax credit of up to $200 for individual filers and up to $400 for married filers. You can claim the tax credit when filing your 2008 Arizona State Income Tax. The school must receive the funds by December 31, 2008.

NOMINATE YOUR FAVORITE TEACHER FOR THE SILVER APPLE AWARD
You can nominate your favorite teacher for the Silver Apple Award. Teachers will be featured on 3TV and will receive special prizes.  The deadline is March 2, 2009.

How Children Learn Best
Our school began as an effort by educators to create a school truly designed with current brain research on how children learn best, a 21st Century School. Our goal is to produce creative thinkers needed today and tomorrow. Teachers at Aztec are extensively trained in not only the traditional methods but also in Brain Compatible Learning and Highly Effective Teaching through The Center for Effective Learning.  Lifelong Guidelines and Lifeskills serve as the behavior guideline in our classrooms. Highly Effective Teaching
Aztec Elementary is a school of "Highly Effective Teaching" near the corners of 100th St. and Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. It is close to the 101 freeway. Aztec has all-day Kindergarten, as well as Pre-K and Panda classes. We are a K-5th grade school!
