- We have hired a Science Specialist who coordinates all things science.
- We have retained our Technology Specialist who coordinates all things related to technology. Together, our Science and Technology Specialists work to coordinate those STEM initiatives we adopt.
- Lego Robotics have been incorporated into many of our technology classes.
- The ASU School of Sustainability has agreed to provide us with a meteorological station, giving us access to real time weather data that connects to our science curriculum. They will be doing research on watershed using Navajo as one of many points of data collection, and will be working with Navajo students on a variety of weather related labs this spring.
- The ASU Ira Fulton School of Engineering continues to work closely with us to implement a program they have designed specifically for Navajo. Science & Engineering Enriching the Development of Students (SEEDS) will bring high interest lab activities, after school clubs, field trips for Navajo students, and professional development for our teachers.
- We are working with Project Astro to provide Navajo students with access to an astronomer and his equipment so that they have greater exposure to concepts involving seasons, solar systems, constellations, and phases of the moon.
- We are working with NASA and their 3-D View Science Education Program to enrich our science curriculum.
- We are in the process of developing lunchtime clubs that promote various topics in science.
- And to guide it all, we have a Steering Committee in place that oversees all we do with respect to our STEM focus.
