Welcome to Scottsdale Schools where we are setting the standard in
Arizona for world-class education.
A report from the Arizona Auditor General released this week shows
that Scottsdale is doing a good job of making sure tax dollars are
spent in the classroom. In 2003 the district spent 61.5% of its
funds in the classroom, up from 59% significantly better than the
state average of 58.6%. That ranks 32nd of Arizona’s 226 districts.
Other areas where SUSD performance exceeds the state average:
- Administration spending: SUSD, 8.6%; Arizona, 9.9%.
- Student support: SUSD 7%; Arizona 6.8%.
- Student/teacher ratio: SUSD 17.1-to-1; Arizona, 17.9-to-1.

Arizona’s governor, Janet Napolitano,
is coming to Scottsdale schools twice in the coming weeks. On Saturday,
she will attend the 10th anniversary celebration for Aztec Elementary
School. And on March 16, the governor will attend a Scottsdale Parent
Council meeting at ANLC beginning at 6:30 p.m. to address education
issues. The public is invited to both events.
If you attended the School Finance Presentations
on Jan. 14 and 21, we need your feedback. Please take a few minutes
to complete the Community
Forum Survey. The survey may not seem complete without the information
supplied at the meetings.
Are you looking for academically challenging
programs for your creative and artistic child? The Gifted Program
is hosting Super Saturday
for children in grades K-8 for five Saturdays in March and April.
The deadline to register is Friday, March 5.
