Ms. Karen Beckvar President 480-484-6238 e-mail: kbeckvar@susd.org	Karen was first elected to the Board in 2002 and reelected in 2006. Karen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and her Masters in Business Administration from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College. She has business experience as a programmer, user support analyst, and as an operational auditor. She also has taught programming and management classes at the college level and worked as a substitute teacher in the Scottsdale Unified School District. Her volunteer activities include serving on PTO boards at four schools, five years on Scottsdale Parent Council, site councils at two schools, executive board of Arcadia Pride, and more than ten years in scouting leadership. Currently she works in leadership development at the AZ School Boards Association. Karen is married and has two sons. Current term of office: 2007-2010
Dr. Eric Meyer Clerk 480-484-6238 e-mail: emeyer@susd.org	Eric was elected to the Board in 2004. A graduate of Chaparral High School, he graduated from the University of Southern California and the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and served as the director of the Emergency Department at Providence Medical Center in Portland. He has served on the Parent Council and PTO for Arcadia Neighborhood Learning Center, as the liaison from the Scottsdale Parent Council to the Chamber of Commerce and the Arizona Legislature and as a district parent Budget Committee member from 2002 to 2004. Eric is married and has two children in Scottsdale schools. Current term of office: 2009-2012
Mrs. Jennifer Petersen 480-484-6238 e-mail: jpetersen@susd.org	Jennifer was elected to the Board in 2004. A native of Dallas, Texas, she has lived in Scottsdale for 17 years with her husband, Ron. They have three children, all of whom attend Scottsdale schools. A business major at SMU in Dallas, Jennifer worked as a retail executive for 16 years before deciding to devote her time entirely to volunteering at her children's schools and being an active advocate for education. Jennifer has served on several district committees and site-based management teams and has acted as PTO President at Anasazi Elementary and Mountainside Middle Schools. Jennifer also is involved in the National Charity League, Daughters of the American Revolution, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and other organizations. Current term of office: 2009-2012
Mr. Dieter Schaefer 480-484-6238 e-mail: dschaefer@susd.org	Dieter was elected to the Board in 2006. An Arizona resident since 1977, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from ASU and has worked over 20 years in corporate audit, finance, and personal investments. He has served on the Parent Council, as president in 2004, and the PTO and site council for Laguna Elementary School . He also serves on the Board of Directors of EMPACT, a non-profit organization that works in suicide prevention. Dieter is married and has two children in Scottsdale schools. Current term of office: 2007-2010
Mrs. Bonnie Sneed 480-484-6238 e-mail: bsneed@susd.org	Bonnie was elected to the Governing Board in 2008. She and her husband Gary have three children and two grandchildren. They moved to Scottsdale in 1998 from Northeast Ohio, where Bonnie worked as a technology coordinator in elementary and middle schools. She has served as an executive director for the Arizona Alliance for Arts Education and has volunteered extensively in Scottsdale schools over the last 10 years on school site councils at the elementary, middle and high school levels and with parent groups for all of her children’s schools. Bonnie was president and co-president of the Arts in Education Council for Scottsdale schools for three years, on the Executive Committee of the Scottsdale Parent Council for four years, on the Steering and Executive Committees of the International Baccalaureate Parents Organization, and a member of the Superintendent’s Blue Ribbon Advisory Council for three years. She and her husband are founding members of the Scottsdale Unified School District Foundation. She has also been an active Band Booster and has served on several District-wide committees, task forces and curriculum materials adoption committees. She is a graduate of Scottsdale Leadership, Class XXII, and received her degree from Arizona State University and Barrett Honors College. Current term of office: 2009-2012
