MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING

OF THE GOVERNING BOARD

SCOTTSDALE SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 48

February 5, 2002

A Special Meeting of the Governing Board of the Scottsdale Unified School District, #48, Maricopa County, was called to order at 6:05 PM, at the Scottsdale School District Education Center Board Room, 3811 North 44^th Street, Phoenix, Arizona.

Board Members in attendance were Barbara A. Newby, President; David R. Goldstaub, Clerk; Shari Avianantos; and Thomas C. Carey. Sandra Zapien-Ferrero arrived at 6:25 PM. Superintendent Barbara F. Erwin was also present. A quorum was present.

Mrs. Avianantos moved to convene in Executive Session for:

Discussion/consultation with the Board’s designated representatives in order to consider the Board’s position and instruct its representatives regarding the salaries, salary schedules or compensation paid in the form of fringe benefits of its employees and other terms and conditions of employment, so that those representatives can properly represent the Board in upcoming “Meet and Confer” sessions, pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(5).

Mr. Goldstaub seconded the motion.

The motion was approved with a vote of 4 – 0 (Mrs. Zapien-Ferrero had not arrived at the meeting).

At 7:00 PM, Mrs. Zapien-Ferrero moved to recess the Executive Session to immediately follow the scheduled Work/Study Board Meeting. Mrs. Avianantos seconded the motion.

The motion was approved with a vote of 5 – 0.

At 8:25 PM, Mrs. Avianantos moved to convene in Executive Session for discussion on Work/Study Meeting Consent Agenda Item VIII. D., Approval of Hearing Officer’s Recommendation, regarding Student #7538. Mr. Carey seconded the motion.

The motion was approved with a vote of 5 – 0.

At 8:35 PM, the Special Meeting was reconvened and recessed.

At 8:45 PM, the Special Meeting reconvened and the first Executive Session that was recessed at 7:00 PM, regarding Discussion/consultation with the Board’s designated representatives on “Meet and Confer,” was reconvened.

At 10:35 PM, the Special Meeting was reconvened and adjourned.
