Salary placement for newly hired teachers and nurses is dependent upon experience and educational level. Educational credit is given for BA, MA and EDD/PhD degrees from institutions approved by Arizona Department of Education. Hours past BA and MA are credited for graduate and undergraduate classes not used for initial teacher certification. Undergraduate classes must also meet the requirements set out in the TEA. Experience credit is granted for contracted teaching experience in a K-12 setting for more than a half year. Placement for 0 years of experience is on Step 3; 1 year on Step 4; 2 to 4 years on Step 5; 5 or more years on Step 6.
